Blues Bass Book available as a PDF. 76 pages .
Introduction
Walking bass lines are ideal for learning how to read in bass clef.
Most often the bass lines are repetitive which can help in note recall. The ascending and descending chromatic and scale lines are great for playing in position, while also giving us the opportunity to play over the entire fingerboard.
The charts have six choruses each and some have repeated sections. These are written to give the player the feeling of playing through a song. It’s not a theory or “how to” book with short examples. It’s a roll up your sleeves get to work approach.
The book has two sections.
Section one has 12 charts that include notation and
tablature. Section two has 12 charts that have notation only. The song titles are the same for each group for familiarity but are in a different key in both sections.
You will get the most out of this book if you already have knowledge of chordal notes, scales, can play over blues progressions and have some reading ability.
This book would be best used by beginners with the help of a teacher.
It can a valuable resource for teachers in being able to have charts that function as working bass lines.
I hope that by using this book you feel inspired and that it motivates you to practice and has you looking forward to playing every chart in the book. Investing time keeping up your reading skills or starting your journey into learning how to read
music while playing walking bass lines is worth the effort!
